The return

Welcome to the world of skin: the final border.

Today, for the first time, I present the most personal space of my professional journey: this blog.

My life has been a fascinating journey through the world of medicine, specifically in the area of dermatology. A specialty that not only allows me to explore the complexity of the human body's largest organ but also has given me the opportunity to positively impact my patients' lives.

From my start at the University of Lleida, through my various professional experiences in Madrid, and now, back home in Porto, every step has been guided by an unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation.

Madrid: the corner of my training.

Madrid was not just my home in recent years, but the place where my passion for dermatology was consolidated and expanded.

From the beginning of my training in the field of dermatology at the General University Hospital Gregorio Marañón, to the Medical Laser Institute (IML), and other places where I worked, I had the privilege of working at the forefront of clinical and surgical dermatology, specialising in advanced laser treatments, dermatological surgery, and much more.

The experiences I had in these workplaces further enriched my clinical and surgical practice, allowing me to participate in clinical trials and contribute to the scientific literature with several publications and communications at renowned congresses.

I had the privilege of being a reviewer and coordinator of the European Journal of Dermatology, a period during which acquiring and sharing knowledge with dermatologists from different parts of the world allowed me to grow as a person and as a dermatologist.

Innovation and education: pillars of my practice.

Continuing education was another pillar of my career. As a collaborating professor at the General University Hospital Gregorio Marañón and at the Complutense University of Madrid, and associate professor at the European University of Madrid, I had the honour of sharing my knowledge and experiences with the next generations of doctors. Being a professor has been one of the most enriching experiences.

Participation in courses and conferences, both as a learner and as a teacher, reflect my commitment to the advancement of dermatology.

Porto: coming home, a new chapter.

Now, from Porto, my goal is to continue growing, learning, and sharing. This blog will be a space where we can explore the latest advances in dermatology, tips for skin care, reflections on my daily practice, and much more. I want this blog to be an extension of the consultation, a meeting place for patients, colleagues, and anyone interested in skin care. Here, we will address the most complex challenges of dermatology, as well as practical tips for day-to-day life, always with the scientific rigour and closeness that characterise me.

A shared journey.

I invite everyone to join me on this journey. Together, we will discover the wonders of dermatology, appreciate the successes, face the challenges, and, above all, share stories. This blog is for all of you, created with the aim of bringing dermatology closer to everyday life and fostering a community where we can all learn.

I thank you in advance for your attention, time, and, above all, trust. I am here to explore the fascinating world of dermatology with you.

With affection and dedication,

Pedro Vilas Boas
